Is Interactive Smartboard Really Useful In Education

Whenever any technological breakthrough happens, new and innovative devices are developed, and questions are always raised whether we actually need them. New technology offers new ways of doing things, which are often better than the conventional ways.

However, as usual, every coin has two sides. Therefore, these technological advancements have their own set of pros and cons. The interactive smartboard is one such device that is rapidly gaining popularity in education. Is it really useful? Or the old school system is better?

Young children can get easily bored in an old style classroom. And the interactive smartboard does a great job in helping the teacher to present the lessons in an engaging and interesting way. When the students are interested and engaged, they learn and retain the lesson better. For instance, images and videos can be a great way to teach something that can’t be taught effectively using just a chalkboard. The teacher can easily include such media in the presentations using the interactive smartboard within minutes. Apart from this, various interesting games and group activities can also be organized using this device.

This device allows multiple students present at different locations to work on the same project or attend the same classes. Other benefits include creating and saving notes in real time, that can be used later in future.

Such things mentioned above couldn’t be imagined in the old system.

On the other hand, it is costly to incorporate interactive smartboards in each and every classroom of the school. Many schools don’t have enough budgets and funding to do that. Therefore, they have no choice but to keep going with the old ways. Also, not all teachers are tech savvy. So, even if a school can afford the technology, it is not easy for them to use these devices. Therefore, they need to be trained first, so that they can get the best out of the new system.

It can’t be denied that it is not easy for every school to adopt the latest technology. However, as the change is in the positive direction, hopefully, sooner or later, the rest of the world will catch up.
